Â鶹¸ßÇå City Council is proposing changes to prices for Â鶹¸ßÇå relating to funerals at its cemetery and crematoria.

However, before any changes are implemented, the council has launched a consultation so that all residents of Â鶹¸ßÇå can give their opinion.

The large majority of fees have either remained at the same level or have reduced in price, following previous feedback from community groups, faith groups and individuals.

It is anticipated that any changes will be implemented on 1st April 2021 at the latest.

Cllr Sharon Thompson, cabinet member for homes and neighbourhoods said, “Bereavement Â鶹¸ßÇå often goes under the radar however, we are providing a service when people are at their most vulnerable, having lost a loved one.
“It is therefore imperative that we hear from all groups, faiths and communities to ensure we get this absolutely right, meeting the needs and wishes of all residents in Â鶹¸ßÇå.

“Over the last few years we have been holding more in-depth conversations with people of all faiths and backgrounds to ensure that our bereavement service is fit for purpose. It is from these ongoing conversations that we have amended some of our prices, like the reduction in cost of both concrete lined graves and woodland burial spaces.

“We hope to continue the progress we have made so far but we need to hear from our residents. So please, have a look at our proposals and have your say.”

The consultation, which can be accessed on the council’s website, is open until 20 January 2021.
