Archaeology national and local policy
Our policy for archaeology and planning is set out in the Unitary Development Plan.
We require developers to assess what the impact of their development proposal may be if on a site that may contain archaeological remains. For larger developments, an archaeological assessment is a part of an Environmental Impact Assessment that the developer must do before work can start.
Or Planning Committee then considers the results of the assessment before making a decision on the Planning Application. This approach follows government advice given in the .
