Mandated Âé¶¹¸ßÇå
Public Health is required to commission a set of ‘mandated Âé¶¹¸ßÇå through the Public Health Grant.
The Public Health Grant is a ring-fenced pot of money that Government gives to Âé¶¹¸ßÇå City Council to fund public health action to protect and improve the health of citizens. This includes funding for the specialist public health division and the mandated Âé¶¹¸ßÇå.
There are five core mandatory public health functions which are:
- provide appropriate access to sexual health Âé¶¹¸ßÇå
- ensure there are plans in place to protect the health of the population, including immunisation and screening plans
- ensure NHS commissioners (Clinical Commissioning Groups or CCGs) receive the Public Health advice they need
- deliver the National Childhood Measurement Programme (NCMP)
- encourage NHS Health Check assessments.
The commissioning and delivery of the mandated Âé¶¹¸ßÇå is overseen by the Health and Social Care and Population Health Team within the Public Health Division.
