Grants programme
The council operates a community grants programme to support the development of community projects.
This includes activities and Âé¶¹¸ßÇå, which can support Syrian refugees and the scheme’s aims, outcomes and priorities.
The funding is available to groups and organisations who are:
- working directly with Syrian refugees,
- doing things to improve community cohesion in areas where Syrian refugees are being accommodated, or
- improving cultural awareness of refugees amongst front-line Âé¶¹¸ßÇå.
Some examples of the activities and Âé¶¹¸ßÇå funded include
- Weekly English classes for our families along with a family ESOL programme during the school holidays
- Access to the FLASH Academy ESOL app for Syrian school pupils
- Conversation and Song café bringing together the women from the Syrian Âé¶¹¸ßÇå
- Bike project donated bikes to the families along with mentoring, cycle training whilst providing fun and social interaction
- A bespoke young people’s training programme delivered by the Princes Trust
- A family learning programme made up of a variety of different courses including driving theory, digital skills, health and wellbeing
- Family therapy and counselling.
