Grants programme

The council operates a community grants programme to support the development of community projects.

This includes activities and Âé¶¹¸ßÇå, which can support Syrian refugees and the scheme’s aims, outcomes and priorities.

The funding is available to groups and organisations who are:

  • working directly with Syrian refugees,
  • doing things to improve community cohesion in areas where Syrian refugees are being accommodated, or
  • improving cultural awareness of refugees amongst front-line Âé¶¹¸ßÇå.

Some examples of the activities and Âé¶¹¸ßÇå funded include

  • Weekly English classes for our families along with a family ESOL programme during the school holidays
  • Access to the FLASH Academy ESOL app for Syrian school pupils
  • Conversation and Song café bringing together the women from the Syrian Âé¶¹¸ßÇå
  • Bike project donated bikes to the families along with mentoring, cycle training whilst providing fun and social interaction
  • A bespoke young people’s training programme delivered by the Princes Trust
  • A family learning programme made up of a variety of different courses including driving theory, digital skills, health and wellbeing
  • Family therapy and counselling.
