Next steps and looking to the future

When you will move to the reshaped structure

Subject to Collective Agreement being reached, the reshaped pay and grading structure will be implemented on 31 October 2025 with an effective date of 1 October 2025.

You will then receive information about the move to the reshaped structure by:

  • email – if you have a work email address
  • post to your home address – if you do not have a work email address or you are on long-term leave

Updating our policies and procedures

We will set up a workstream to review and update any existing policies and procedures that reference the current grade structure.

How we will assess the impact and success of the reshaped pay and grading structure

The changes benefit all colleagues in current Grades 1 to 5, with a neutral impact on remaining colleagues who are currently at the top of their grade, and will remain so.

We will assess the impact and success of the reshaped pay and grading structure by:

  • using colleague feedback from our annual employee survey
  • completing Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) on an ongoing basis
  • considering other indicators, such as our ability to attract and keep colleagues

Keeping existing colleagues and attracting new talent

There are lots of considerations when it comes to keeping and attracting new colleagues, and base pay is only one part of that.

The changes to the number of SCPs within each grade will enable colleagues to progress to the maximum of their grade more quickly. We expect the reshaped structure to make a significant contribution to our ability to attract new colleagues and keep the people with the essential skills we need.
